Sarpanchs & MPTC Members Capacity Building & Training Programmes-2010

The AMR- Andhra Pradesh Academy of Rural Development (APARD) has taken some bold initiatives in support of the National Capacity Building Framework in getting involved some selected Non-Governmental Organisations in 7 districts of Andhra Pradesh, on pilot basis in delivery of Capacity Building & Training programmes for the elected representatives of Panchayati Raj Institutions in Andhra Pradesh state.

The Academy of Grassroots Studies and Research of India (AGRASRI), a professional NGO with panchayati raj expertise, is fortunately one of the training partners of APARD in implementing the Capacity Building & Training programmes for elected representatives of PRI’s in Chittoor District. As mutual understanding, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was reached between the AMR–AP Academy of Rural Development, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad and Academy of Grassroots Studies and Research of India, Tirupati, in the month of October, 2010. Thereafter, the APARD has organised 5 day programme for MoT’s at Hyderabad from February 15 to February 19, 2010 and finalised the Capacity Building & Training programmes for the elected representatives of PRI’s in Andhra Pradesh state.

In pursuance of APARD directions, the Academy of Grassroots Studies and Research of India (AGRASRI), has organised One-day Workshop for Training of Trainers (ToT’s) at Tirupati, on 1st March, 2010. Further, the Extension Training Centre, APARD, Sri Kalahasthi, organised 5 days programme for 48 ToT’s of AGRASRI, from 2nd March to 6th March, 2010 and formed 16 teams (EO-PR & RD as Leader and NGO and Research Scholar as Members in each Team), with necessary guidelines and instructions.

As part of the action plan, the Capacity Building & Training programmes for Sarpanchs and MPTC Members, were organised in 5 phases (15 Mandals each in 4 phases and 5 Mandals in final phase) from March 20 to April 7, 2010 at 65 Mandal Head Quarters in Chittoor District, by the Academy of Grassroots Studies and Research of India, in joint collaboration with AMR - Andhra Pradesh Academy of Rural Development, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh, Hyderabad. The Upa-Sarpanchs and Ward Members CB&T Programmes were organised from September 13 to October 21, 2010. In every mandal, the President of the MPP, ZPTC Member and MPDO of the concerned Mandal were participated, as distinguished Chief Guests, at the Inaugural Sessions of various Capacity Building & Training programmes, besides some AP Ministers, MP’s, MLA’s, Collector, ZP CEO, DPO and State Information Commissioner of AP. The Academy has imparted a series of capacity building & training programmes for nearly 16,000 elected representatives of panchayati raj institutions (Sarpanchs, Upa-Sarpanchs, MPTC Members and Ward Members) in Chittoor District, in the Year 2010 in 293 Batches.
